I just power washed my pressure treated deck yesterday, and I need to decide what finish to use.

If I use a semi-transparent stain, will it be much more work than a wood toner, the next time I have to re-do it?

Does a semi-transparent stain last much longer than a wood toner?

Is there a certain brand product you would recommend for either?

Thanks.

Ask any painter how much he likes doing decks, ugh! Not much of anything lasts for more than a couple years. Even the high priced stuff fails quickly. My "go-to" product is CWF-UV made by the Flood Co. It's cheap, easy to recoat after a couple seasons in the weather, and gives that nice warm look to PT wood.

Thanks. I saw the CWF-UV today at Menards. It's not a stain, correct? It's just a wood toner? When it gets re-done in 2-3 years, does it have to be cleaned and power washed again?
Well, Jim, you really should clean it again before re-coating. It's amazing how much dust, dirt, pollen, etc. finds its way onto the deck surface and you don't want to apply a clear coat over any of that. On the positive side, if you do it up right this time around, well, it will go much better and much faster. CWF-UV is readily available and I would venture to say Menard's has the best price on it. Probably less than $20 per gallon.
