Hello All,

We purchased our house in 2011; and its clear that we really need a return to get the unused hot air from the peak of the loft back down into the kitchen and bathroom. Both of which share the only interior wall of the house.

In the pictures you should be able to see the white vertical casing in the loft. This is the septic vent stack. I am hoping to use the stack as the guide and insert the return inside that same bathroom/kitchen wall next to the stack. The return will need to vent the heated loft air out both sides of the wall at the base, into both kitchen/bathroom.

The wall is 2x4 24'OC. I am hoping you guys can help me identify what kind of ductwork to use and what kind of fan I will need to make it all happen. Ideally the fan will be wired to either a timed or temp sensitive switch. I've never done any HVAC work, so don't assume I will know a step, because I wont.

Thanks guys!

You can get 3 1/4X14 inch wall stack. Just not sure what kind of fan set up you can use. that would look nice, since you would need to use an inline fan.

Yes, a rectangular style duct is what I was envisioning. The fan does not need to be in line exactly, as we could mount it somewhere in the loft, hidden in the storage shelving that will eventually be built up there; if needed.
