I need to do almost exact platform as this. I only have this pictures as reference. Can someone help me what type of wood was used here (swamp area) and the most likely size of beam, column and flooring. Also the connection, would you just use nails?

Looks to be nothing more the pressure treated lumber.

Probably 6x6, 2x decking with steel railings.


Personally, I would use stainless screws and either wood or stainless railings.

If Cypress is abundant in the area that would be a fairly good guess. As for size on that platform just a WAG of 3"or 4" x 8"or 12".

Most likely it's sitting on driven piles pounded in far enough to get to solid ground.

i was thinking of using southern yellow pine (SYP) treated for the timber/lumber. do you suggest another type of wood is better? how about glulam wood?
