Coil,
Like Blondy said, more info would help. But in general, I have secured 2 x 4's for cleats for kitchen islands with exterior grade deck screws and gone through the mortar joint, not the tile. This is also assuming there is a wood subfloor under the tile and it's underlayment.

Adhere wood to ceramic

The wood will have a slot and newel attached that will be holding a piece of 3'x3' tempered glass, the other end of the glass away from the newel will be against the wall. Used for a decorative barrier next to a 5 step staircase going down.

PL Premium is a good adhesive---To bad the newel couldn't go through the tile and be attached below the floor, into the framing--Is that still a possibility?
