Hello,


I am looking to match the hardwood that I have in my kitchen. Below is a picture of the floor finished/ unfinished. Can anyone tell me what type of wood/ stain/ lacquer this looks like?

Looks to be white oak.

I agree white oak, clear or very light amber urethane.

Matching stains and finishes to old work can be a challenge. Wood and finishes tend to darken with age, so even if had the exact same wood and finish as used originally, it still might not match. Usually it takes me a few small sample cans of stains, and several scrap pieces of lumber to get a decent match. If you still have the pieces that were removed, bring them with you to the store.

Yeah, the best thing to do is go to your local box store and get a couple of cans of what you think will be close, and do some testing.
