Wood is wood and I couldn't rest easy for that top. But at the end it is yours.
BTW it is one of the best looking small kitchen I've seen.
For the stove, search for vintage stove restoration. Repairclinic.com is excellent, even for advice, but parts for old stoves get discontinued. My parents have Chambers stove and I had to do some research before. Search for chambers stove and some sites may have useful links.

:) thank you. I did find the part I was looking for at a fabulous little mom and pop parts house here local. I'm still going to have to re-wire it though I'm afraid, so I will definitely be checking out the sites you mentioned.

I have had several maple island countertops and never had a problem. One of them is thirty years old and still in the house.
Soak them in mineral oil. Don't rub the oil on soak it in. You can make a poly bath weigh the board down and pour the oil on.
Vegetable oils and other plant based oils can go rancid :thumbsup:

Good luck finding renters that will wipe the counter with Mineral oil every few months. Just waterlox it and be done with it.
