Hey guys, I have a gentlemen wanting to sell me a Titan advantage 400 sprayer. I'm not really sure what this thing is worth and I'm not really sure what I should be checking for. How do I know if this thing has been cleaned and taken care of?

Parts for a sprayer can get real expencive, last used one I bought for $50.00 and ended up spending $150.00 to get it to work, painted one fence and never used it again.

He is actually wants to trade me for a guitar I have worth about $300. My wife and I like to buy old furniture and restore it so I thought this sprayer would come in handy. I just don't want something that doesn't work that I have to fix.

Just to give you an idea on what the parts cost.

For small jobs like that I'd be looking at an HVLP sprayer.
Less mess.

Personally I wouldn't buy it.You wouldn't get much use out of it on furniture even if it works.

So if I trade and get this sprayer could I sell it on craigslist? Are these highly sought after? I know these units run about $700 new, but what are they worth used?

Something like that would be for painting something like a whole house.

If it works perfectly(which I would be skeptical of) you wouldn't be making a profit by trading a $300 guitar for it.

A lot of people are buying units like this for say painting their house. When finished they find they don't have any use for them so they end up on say c/l pretty cheap. That's why used one's are all over. If buying from an individual it probably hasn't been used much. For what you say you want it for you can use it by buying FF (fine finish) tips. The only way to really check it out is to use it a couple times.
