We have power coming into a junction box that goes to a light, from there it goes to the light switch, then from the light switch to an independent outlet at the end of the run. Only have power from switch (middle of run) to outlet but NOT to light. Using two wire except for the loop from junction box to switch (using three wire). At light, white from power source, light fixture and and switch are connected along with black from light fixture with red to switch. Black incoming is capped with black to switch. At switch two whites are capped, two black are attached to top screw on left side of switch and red to screw on right. From switch power is okay, HELP

Are there by any chance 3 screws on the switch not counting a ground (green ) screw? If There are it sounds like you have a three way switch and you would need to move the two black wires to the bottom screw.

What does the second switch contol? Is it a second switch that works with the first swtich. If it is you can't do it with 3 wire cable. You need four wire cable.
