Wiring for wall sconces in bathroom

In the middle of a master bathroom tearout and I'm changing the locations of my lighting. Is there a certain type of electrical box for wall sconces, since I'm sure the sconce mounts to the box and not to the wall?

Unless you know exactly were you want your sconces, I would leave the cable with slack in the wall and then cut in old work octagon boxes after your vanity and mirror are in place. If the placement, ends up on a stud use a pancake box to mount your sconce.
doesn't the weight of the sconce usually hang on the box? if the box happened to not land on a stud would it be able to handle the weight?
I have never seen a bath sconce that would be too much weight for an old work box.
