Wiring for wall sconces in bathroom

In the middle of a master bathroom tearout and I'm changing the locations of my lighting. Is there a certain type of electrical box for wall sconces, since I'm sure the sconce mounts to the box and not to the wall?

Usually, fixtures will mount to any kind of box. ! gang, 3/0 or 4/0

Sometimes they are a pain to mount to ANY kind of box due to the mounting hardware.

It's best to have the lights in front of you to dertemine which type to use. If that's not going to happen, I'd say go with a 4/0 (4" round)
a single gang box would be perfectly on center with my wall, but just wasn't sure if a sconce would work with that type of box.
MOST sconce canopies will cover a single gang box. Some smaller ones may allow the box to show a touch at the corners.
