wiring for new ceiling light

my house was built in 1971 and all the bedrooms dont have ceiling lights. i just have lamps that i have a outlet that is connected to the switch with. i know i need to run a wire from the switch to the ceiling light but do i have to re wire that outlet too? i did a ceiling fan last year with same set up. maybe i can try and find my post on here about that but if someone has any quick input i would appreciate it. my other question was will the light be grounded at all since the 14/2 would be coming from the switch or no? if it wont be how do i ground it? thanks

Wiring from 71 should contain a grounding means.

You may need to rewire the receptacle, just depends on the wiring. You will need to find out what wires are available at the switch.
