I’m replacing a baseboard heater and the instructions don’t match my wiring so I was hoping I could find one of you experts to pity my ignorance rather than me burning my house down and advise me on this.

First picture is the 4 wires coming from my wall and the black wires from the unit.
Second picture is the thermostat control.

Thanks for any help with this!

Paul

You have a 2 pole thermostat shown. Two wires will be labeled line, typically L and 2 will be load, typically T.

You need a connector on the cable into the back of the unit.

You need to determine which wires were connected to the breaker. Should be black and red on a 2 pole breaker. Cap the unused wire. Be sure to ground the heater.

Check the instructions to determine if black or red is the line side of the thermostat. Connect one line side to incoming black and other to white. For the load side cut off the crimp sleeve with two wires. Connect one load side to one wire and other to remaining wire. Make sure incoming bare wire is put under green grounding screw.
