Hello folks. I am new here and first time posting and I do hope someone can answer my question.
My wife needs to have a light turned on now, before getting out of bed during the night. I went and purchased a Lutron Remote Control dimmer. This switch has 2 empty terminals and a green length of ground wire.
On one side of the room at the door there are 3 dimmer switches controlling 3 different sets of light fixtures. On the other side at the door to the balcony where I need to put in the switch for the remote dimmer, there are 2 switches encased in a double faceplate. One is a single on/off for a single light on the bedroom balcony and the other is a single off/on switch that controls one of the sets of light fixtures I mentioned that is also controlled by a dimmer at the bedroom entrance door. First I switched off the breaker that controls the bedroom lights.I then removed this face plate to hook up the remote and now I am lost because of what i found. At this point i figured it would be a simple b to b and w to w and screw on the green ground.
I pulled both switches away from the box and I have the following. There are 2 white wires tied together with a Marrette. The switch that controls the balcony light is wired with 2 Black wires. The second one where i need the Lutron is wired on one side with a Black and a RED and a White on the other. There are NO wires connected to the GREEN ground terminals from either of the current switches :confused1::confused1:
So, can I remove this switch with the 3 wires and wire in the Lutron remote dimmer to this box? If it can be done would someone be kind enough to post instructions for me.
