hey everyone,

question in regard to wiring a new basement:

from my main panel, there are two breakers that control the circuits in my basement. On one of those breakers, it also controls two bedrooms and bath upstairs. upon demoing, the circuit from the panel goes up and then travels down powering my basement. from here, i now how 3 opened ended live circuits; can i now enclose these in jboxes and power my outlets, lights and switches from here?

May depend on where you are.
Around here they want the basement, garage, bathrooms, on there own 20 amp. GFI protected circuits.

I'm in Long Island NY. The current layout was/is pre-existing and I assume the term grandfathered no longer applies.
Ultimately I'll call an electrician to do the wiring and perhaps install a sub panel just for the basement. There are jboxes everywhere! I was hoping to do it myself, however.
