So I have a switch going into my bedroom that operates a single outlet in the room. Do they make any type of remote/wireless switch that would plug into that switched outlet, then another piece that plugs into a separate outlet in the room to essentially make that outlet operate with the switch.

I want to have 2 lamps, on different sides of the room, that turn on with the one switch to provide more light in the room. Can't seem to find what I am looking for.

First off, are you sure that only 1 outlet is switched? Many times in Living rooms & bedrooms multiple outlets are switched. The norm is having half the outlet switched & the other half of the outlet hot constant. If you checked it, and found out that only the one outlet is controlled by the switch, I suggest opening that outlet and/or the one you want to be switched. See how many wires are in the switched outlet box, the norm is black/red/white. and if you also have another wire with black/red/white coming out of that box, then you know that the switch leg is going to another box...possible that one you want switched. Hopefully it does, and at some point, someone wanted the top & bottom of the outlet to be hot all the time, so all you would have to do is re-attach the red wire.

"Norms"are only good in a specific area, and may also be related to time of construction.

I could tell you that normal is: they are hot all the time, only the receptacle closest to the door is half hot, half switched. It is done with a switch loop, no reds involved.

There are other "norms". Any of them would be just as accurate as your or my examples.

I suggest that you look up "Wireless outlet control"
Here is an example http://www.ebay.com/itm/Etekcity-Wi...492657?hash=item3d17465e31:g:9D0AAOSwdU1W-dvL

You can "program the learning outlet receiver to suit your needs." - so you can program two controls to respond to the same On - Off signals,.

you could install 1 Cooper Aspire Z wave wireless receptacle, 1 Aspire Z wave switch, group them and switch them that way ( with one being tied directly to the switch and the other being tied wirelessly to the switch ), but you need the system Z wave remote to program the switch / wireless receptacle. Aspire make the switches in 2 versions, one with and without the need for a neutral present in the switch box.

But as another has noted, sometimes they will run the switched wire through all the receptacles in the room but only wire the one in question as a half hot ( with 14/2 or 12/3 romex being used and the red being used as the switched hot ). It may be worth it to open all the receptacles ( using safety precautions by turning off the power ) to see if they have passed the switch leg wiring through the receptacle boxes or went direct to the outlet ( and sometimes it is direct switch loop )

That's not the norm around here. You typically only see one switched outlet here. I am pretty sure that he would know if other outlets were switched or not.

Just a thought, but how about running an extension cord (maybe in a surface mount raceway) to the other lamp ?

Assuming your goal is to have both lamps off one switch, not that the goal is to have remote control. Myself, I hate having all these remotes that need supply of batteries.
