i want to hook up my shed with hydro which is 180 feet away. What gauge wire do I use to connect main panel to sub panel to have 30amps (15 amps for both sides) for lights and small tools. Will be hooking up pump for pond in future

That isn't how it works you will have 30 amps on each leg and the wire you need is 10/3 UF romex if it is run outside.
