Hello,

I am trying to wife a GFCI outlet that is controlled downstream by a switch but am unsure how to go about it. This is for my garbage disposal and I don't want to wire a half-hot outlet as that is now against code. Can a GFCI outlet be controlled by a light switch?

Thank you.

Would you be able to type out or have a diagram for wiring the switch to control the GFCI, please?
Take the hot and neutral to the switch box, connect the hot to one terminal of the switch.

Take a hot and neutral from the switch box to the receptacle.

Connect the hot to the other terminal of the switch, and connect the neutrals together.

At the receptacle, connect the hot to the line side hot of the gfci, and the neutral to the line side of the gfci.
