Hello fellow DIY experts,

I seek your assistance on something, I have these windows at home that are having some issues. When I lift them up, they don't stay up. The hinges on the sides are no longer holding the windows up, when I went to some hardware stores they told me either contact manufacturers or replace the window. I am currently only using a stick to keep the window up, is there a way to fix this issues.

Refer to the pictures for a better description, thank you very much!!!!

Snap the window back in place and try to move the bottom sash at the top from side to side.
There should only be enough room for the window to slightly move from side to side, to loose and it's not going to stay up.
Pop the sashes out and take another picture of the tracks.
On some you will see screws holding the window in place and two adjustment screws in the middle to adjust the frame.

Sort of.
Try the wiggle test first to see how much play there is.
If there's to much remove the sashes so we can see if there's an adjustment screw in the middle if the track.
It looks like there is no balance spring, just the friction on the sides of the windows stopping the window from dropping.
Here's some pictures of what a window balance would look like.

The balance shoe (in your last pic) looks a little funky . Not sure , but it looks like the coil spring type shoe (meaning there is not a spiral (tube type) balance ). Since you have taken the sash out once , things would be much clearer if you took it out again & posted a pic of the actual balance .

Replacement of the "coil" type is a bit more of a challenge .

The next chance I have, I will try to take more pictures for you guys. Based on what I see, I do not see anything that resembles a balancer in the two side rails. From what I see, the window is being hold up by the hinges (picture 3) mainly based on fiction to the side rails. Are the balancer a a mandatory thing for my type of Windows?

Thank you very much for everyone input !
