We have experienced a significant amount of leaking in both our windows to our home on one side of our mansard flat wall (we confirmed with getting the hose up there). Would anyone have suggestions for re-doing the flashing the right way? Steps and material? We just had the roofers re-shingle this flat wall but should have done the flashing first. We also think that installing gutters above and building window ledges above the windows would be more mitigation measures (thoughts?).

Thanks you kindly for you advice (this is our second post on the issues with our new mansard roof- the other was on improper ventilation because the wall of the mansard connects directly to the top of the roof leaving no intake ventilation system because of no easement).

Where is the water showing up inside, have you pulled the trim inside to see where it might come from.
Did you hose it in stages starting at the bottom and working your way up from the bottom to see where it starts leaking?

Great question - so the water is coming in below (lower level) through the wall I believe- it is not showing up on the other side of the window in the house. It is somehow traveling through the wall down to the next level. We can see it leaking to the next level through our garage attic - video:

Do you know what the roofer did to insure there was no leaks, Did he remove the rim or just tuck the shingles behind it?
He should have extended the head flashing over the side trim.
