Hi,
Looking to build a freestanding deck approximately 20x14’ a little under two feet high.
A lot of the area is covered by large patio pavers that used to be the floor of an enclosed porch.
I was wondering what you guys think about the possibility of just using some Simpson type post brackets directly on these to support the deck beams instead of removing the concrete and digging footers? They seem very solid and I was thinking if I space them about 5 feet apart it may be ok.
The deck will be using double 2x10 as beams (3rows) and 2x8 joists (12”oc) will sit on top of the beams.
I’ll still need some regular footers placed where there is no existing concrete so some of the beams will be anchored to the ground regardless. (I plan planning to use those Titian deck footing anchors that screw into the ground with an impact wrench instead of digging for footings. Iif anyone has good or bad experience with those I’d love to hear before I place the order).
