Most of our basement windows have been replaced. This one however appears to be original. Its a single pane in Minnesota, wood frame set into concrete. It isn't leaking yet, but the outer trim is very rotten. I've replaced doors but not windows before. This one confuses me because it is set very deep and the drywall runs right up to it without any trim. Just wondering if I should be able to remove this window without messing up all the drywall or if I should plan on having to redo that drywall.

It is a coin flip. If you can buy a replacement that is the exact size to fit the opening you may be able to do it all from the outside.

Note that custom replacement windows can be made in any size.

I agree. Your buck frame will stay in place and the window should be extricated from the outside. You'll cut the caulk on the inside, remove the molding from the outside and determine how it was installed, either as a new construction window with a nailing flange, or a replacement with screws through the frame.
