Tallahassee Florida, slab house one level small 2 bed 1 bath single family home. Bathroom, and bedroom door jambs.
warm air finding a cold path to the attic in the winter. Sounds like the ceiling needs to be seal from the attic side.A possibility . Those are 2 doors are commonly closed which can force cold A/C air into walls that are containing warmer humid air leading to possible condensation. About a year ago there was a post from FL about light switch covers being wet with condensation, but as you say, more common on exterior walls which these were.
My front door is not sealed. Needs to be replaced. I was thinking that could cause an issue.warm air finding a cold path to the attic in the winter. Sounds like the ceiling needs to be seal from the attic side.
Yes when you have lots of drafts it is a problem, the question is where is all the air going, Most of the time it is going up and it is full of humidity and as it cools the moisture condenses and that is where you find mold.My front door is not sealed. Well now it's making sense. I'll have to get someone in the attic to button it up. Feeling better now there is a starting point. There are holes in the tops and bottom of wall for wires and pipes and what have you and if the venting in the attic is not set up right it will suck air from a cooler basement or a cold crawl space and warm moist air from the house.
It all adds up to bad news.
Might be hard to find right now but many places (states) offer a free energy audit. That would find all or most of the problems at one time then you could sort out what order to work thru problems.Well now it's making sense. I'll have to get someone in the attic to button it up. The attic can be a huge issue for me. After seeing the pictures of sealing an attic several issues are starting to add up. This is just one problem of many right now.Might be hard to find right now but many places (states) offer a free energy audit. We have a member here that asked about attic insulation and he was talked into sealing the ceiling and correcting some venting in the attic. He came back to say he got the sealing done but not the insulation and thru the winter he saved more on his heat bill than he was expecting to save with just more insulation.

The eves on this house are some kind of pressed particle board.
Now you got this larger issue concerning me. I have huge moisture issues. The attic has 8 inches of a blown in insulation.
I'm a bit overwhelmed at the moment. My deadbolts on exterior doors don't work after rain falls.
My entire new 22 mil commercial vinyl flooring is heaving up. This issue started with a new dishwasher processing board went out while calling for water for 3 hours.
