I'm trying to hide the seams of some 3dwall panels. Started with lightweight spackling, purposely feather the seam area thicker and when it dries the seams shows.

Went out and got some crackshot and a can of My ready patch and tried again it did the same thing.

WHat I also noticed was I can apply a thick layer of spackle and the seam still shows before drying

the seam is 1/16"

Can not tell anything from that close up.
Did you use paper tape?
If not that's your issue.
Tape should have been set in general purpose drywall compound,
Second coat with the same thing.
Then the light weight.
Spackle is only for filling small nail holes.
Light weight does not have any adhesive to bond the tape to the wall.

Whenever doing any kind of plastering work, ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS work with a bright light shining at a sharp angle to your wall or work area.

That "critical lighting" will exagerate the roughness of your work, making the high spots look like mountains and the low spots look like the Grand Canyon. Such critical lighting will give you a 6th sense so that you'll be able to SEE where you need to add joint compound and where it needs to be sanded down to get a smooth surface.

When it looks "could be worse" under critical lighting, it'll look pretty good under normal lighting. When it looks pretty good under critical lighting, it'll look perfect under normal lighting.

I have all the lights in the area on, it's an accent wall so I also have lights shining down at the wall, so if it appears good enough with actual lights I think I'll be happy with it.

FWIW, I got it to satisfactory. Feather 2 coats of crackshot unsand it's looks uneven and bumpy. once all dried I sanded the surface also in a slight angle similar to the feather angle and the seams looks pretty good. Because some of the areas are so small about 1/2 or less of space to work with I but two pieces of a paint stirring stick together to make a sanding block and work at it which helps a lot.

Without tape ANY movement will crack it. And spackle is probably the worst thing you could use it has no strength. And not sure what you mean thick feathering. It should be thinner where it's feathered and all coats should be thin.
