i don't know how old this house is, but the walls are made of what looks to be shredded wood? i'm a young guy and don't know much about painting...if i wanted to, i could punch a hole in the all no problem lol...but anyways, in my room the walls are made of that shredded wood stuff, and the paint that was in the wall previously was white...AND TEXTURED!!! it's such a pain to paint over textured walls i hate it!!! i repainted the room, and the paint peels right off, almost beautifully...darn. and i can't scrape the old or new paint off, because the darn walls get scraped off too, showing tghe shredded would stuff underneath...HELP!!! how do i paint this room?

Even the cheapest paint shouldn't peel off like that. Here's what ya do. Go to a real paint store and get the spraypaint can version of this.

and a cheap $1 brush incase this stuff runs. Do a small area and see if that will stay stuck to it. If it does, go back and get the gallon version and that will give you a solid base which you can paint over with a quality paint. Keep the remainder of the spray can. You can always use it here and there on any trouble spots around the house.

most likely these walls had many coats of oil based paint on them. When you paint over this with Latex it will peel all the paint off as you described. Try painting the top coats with acrylic latex and use the primer first as Matthew suggests.

If you have a Sherwin Williams in your area you can pick up a spray can of ProBlock primer for $7, and a quart for $15. ProBlock will seal the old oil-based paint coats (so will the Zinsser, get whichever is cheaper). ProBlock is the SW branded ace in the hole if paint can't be stuck.

Depending on the age of the house, if the paint is really old watch out for lead. It's probably a good thing that you cannot scrape it because airborne lead particles are harmful. I'd have it tested for lead before scraping, and if there is lead, you will have to chemically strip or cover.
