Love my new GE bottom freezer fridge.

Except the darn knocking. Tried to ignore it but can even hear it when I’m in bed and it’s unsettling.

Called while its under warranty. Its the ‘damper’. New damper on order. I’m praying (yes praying for my fridge) it gets fixed because daughter is so happy to have bought this for me. I don’t want her disappointed.

That's annoying to say the least. Wish you and the fridge well with the repair.

We purchased one new in 2008 and it has a low pitch whine but at least it doesn't knock. We are accustomed to 0.0 noise from old refrigerators. They didn't have a light either, but had a nice AL ice cube tray. :smile:An older brother has one that's 65 years old that can't be heard at all and still doing well.

Senior, bet your brother had to defrost the freezer. My dads was 45 yo far as I know. But buddy you best be quick when you open that door, grab what you want and close it in record time. None of this hanging onto an open door while you try to decide if anything appeals to you. No siree.
I was acquainted with a lady and this is the story I was told. No HVAC in hot weather and she ironed clothes in front of the fridge with the door open.:vs_laugh:

No idea why knocking barely happens now and is quiet when it happens.

One thing is I played with temp controls.

The repairman was here, opened inside back wall but replacement damper was wrong size.

I guess I’ll call him before he comes back again and ask his opinion on whether I should leave well enough alone or have replacement damper installed.

But why would a damper be so loud the first 6 weeks then quiet down?
