Hi,

I have a Whirlpool model WED5300VW0, electric dryer. It's only 1 1/2 years old. The other night, I had a load of laundry going, and discovered it was still running after almost 3 hours. The laundry was completely dry (and hot). I had set the dial to a little more than 'Energy Preferred' on the Accudry cycle. The dial seemed to have moved down to the 'Energy Preferred' level, and stayed there (as opposed to moving further down to 'Cool Down' and then off). The next day, I decided to try it again on the 'Timed Drying' cycle. I set it for 20 mins. The dial did move, but after about 1 hour, it was still running (and the dial was on 'Cool Down'). I checked the link trap, and the vent pipe, and everything was clear. I ran it again on 'Timed Drying' with the vent pipe disconnected, just to make sure, and same thing - it just kept running. Any ideas? Does it sound like the Timer unit is bad? Is there another way to test it? Is it easy to replace?

Thanks very much for any advice.
