Don't laugh at me please. I have a Living Room, that leads to 2 hallways and then 3 bedrooms...all in laminate.

I made a nice picture showing the way I was thinking of running the boards.

Good to go, as I am having a debate with my dad - he thinks E and F should be run North and South and make a transistion between the 2 hallways.


Also wondering if you'd go directly from hallway to bedroom continuous or would you make a transistion from hallways to bedrooms?

The wood should be run accross the floor joists. The doorways do not need transitions.

It's personal preference. If you want the back rooms turned North-South then I would recommend carrying the E-W flooring in the hall all the way to the wall and then have the change happen on either side. This way when you are looking down the hall from what I assume is the living area you don't see the flooring transition.

Ditto on the personal preference... thoughts to consider are

--- running it crossways to incoming daylight will hide structural imperfections

--- down a hallway will make hall look long and narrow versus crossways will look shorter and wider

--- doorway transitions will make installation easier , direction change possible, but leaves um.... a bump
