I have a 'slight' issue with how I attached my floor joits to the outside beam.....since it was only about 3' from the wall to the outside rim joist (3.5"x11.25" PSL)....and an odd angle (32.5 deg), I just toe nailed the ends of the floor joists. My architect says I need hardware.

Both pics are the same view....

Because of the odd angle....a 45 deg joist hanger does not work.....

Simpson has a squewable one....but.....it won't be easy getting it up there.

Would A35's (one on each side work)?

I'm ready to ask the architect but I wanted your guys input before I did....if you guys tell me to use the Simpson squewable ones...I won't even bother him with the question.

In your case you’d block every other bay against the rim and then nail through the joist into those blocks, then fill in the rest of the bays. Much stronger than an A35 imo.

I don’t know of any adjustable angle Simpson hanger you can add after the fact.

The other option is to have hangers fabricated but I’d think that would be the last choice.

:laughing: You do the homework. There's a 100+ options there.

What it does say "right at the top" is +/- 5 deg off 45...not 12.5 deg.

a35`dont have to go on before the joist is in place . unlike hangers for engineered joists which have tabs that sit on top of the beam.. the a35 is more of a adjustable bracket

Talk to the architect if lag screws are acceptable substitute. Architect may want engineer's sign off.
Hangers are better than nails because they give support. Therefore, you may have to do the ugly and just beat one in there, and not worry about form fitting the ties. Take the closest then bend the parts necessary without compromising the basic "function" of the hanger, which is to support the lumbers. You must use 2x hangers, though. Anything wider would be compromising the hanger.
