I'm thinking of trying to recreate something like the molding in this picture by stacking wood molding:

The egg and dart strip at the bottom is easy, but I'm not sure what to call the strip of hemispheres at the stop. Does anyone know were to find something like that?

that may have been a custom molding made on site. just check a big box store and see what they have in their rack of ornate architrave moldings
With that being a graphic rendering, it would be in no way how the real project would look like, unless you have been in the fine building trades for a long time.

Back in the day, it was usually made out of one piece of wood, hand carved. Now it is either machine made on a CNC machine, molded out of PVC, or made out of multiple pieces to create the finished project.

A lot of those pieces would have to either be special ordered, or a local mill shop would have to make them on site, using a CNC machine.

That is something that would have been hand carved or made out of Plaster.

That looks a lot like what we installed a lot several years back, what we used was called "Focal Point" molding brand.

This molding

Then Cove molding, then the dart type molding. By the time you buy all of the moldings it will cost as much or more than that one piece.

Thanks for the help guys! Most of what I see is a "pearl" molding with the hemispheres closely spaced, but at least I now know that the profile I'm looking for is the "bead."

I did call the outfit that was selling this single-piece molding (they don't have it in stock any more), but the cost of building it up myself will be cheaper, especially since I'm making the cove myself. No way could I afford the single piece in wood.
