What kind of door should go on this HVAC closet? I'm not really sure what the plans called for here.

Actually the prints say there should be a bifold door here, there's also an HVAC closet upstairs that looks the exact same now but that calls for a swinging door. I really don't see any room for a door to be installed here. Do you?

Will there be any equipment inside it? What is the bottom? A return duct? You may have to put a louvered single door, mounted to the outside of the framing, depending on the need of access and if equipment is inside.

There will be an AHU inside. The bottom is a return duct.

I would build a face frame around the opening and order a cabinet door for it.
