I bought my house 3 years ago and last year I put in some bushes/hastas and mulch on the side of the yard. This year, this stuff in the picture started popping up. It has grown very slow and Im not sure what it is. Do I watch it or killl it? Plant or fungus? I have no idea. It has been growing in a circle in a bunch. It is very fragile and breaks easily. It has not flowered and has no leaves. Any ideas?

Went to a horticulture website and posted these. Turns out they are chlorophyl (sp) free plants that grow in the wild. They called them cadaver plants. They are creeping out my wife - I'll let them grow a little bigger.

When I checked to see what you posted, the word 'job' was highlighted green & when I ran my cursor over it a pop-up appeared suggesting a career in the travel industry @ Monster.com. Thought it may have been a plug on your part. Apparently not. 'scuse my error. Have a great day!

What I am about to post is the truth, so help me. These "creatures" came up in some bulk cypress mulch we bought about two years ago. The look exactly like your pictures and did have an odor of something dead when near them. My sister-in-law told us they were "P___r mushrooms", as in male anatomy part, mushrooms. When my wife and her sister went back to the local nursery, my wife happened to ask if anyone had told them about these growing in the bulk cypress mulch we bought from them. The lady told them she wanted to "show them something". The entire pile of cypress mulch had these growing all over it. The lady told my wife and sister-in-law they were "P___r mushrooms", I swear it. She told them they had no idea of how to get rid of them. And they do come back each year. My wife seems to get pleasure out of cutting them off at or below the ground. Women claim we (men) have a weird sense of humor! Thanks, David

this is a peckerhead mushroom:

It is a morel or like a morel only the variegated section is much smaller than a typical morel.

it is a common term and accepted in the fungus seeking world.

That could be a form of spyware that is on your PC
Or it could be a form of advertising that I have seen (and block on my PC)
