Just bought a duplex and changing the carpet to laminate.

Found a hole in the cement slab underneath the previous carpet. There's a plastic square thing buried, but I'm not sure what it is. How should I fill up this hole? With cement, sand, rocks before I lay down the laminate. Someone dug it out and I'm not sure why.

Thanks

There might be a clean out under there. Pop it up and have a look.

What are its dimensions?

As long as the plastic is flush with the concrete (or lower), just run the laminate over top of it.
You might consider cutting the laminate (and/or the interlock) so you can access this clean-out once the floor is installed. Since it is in a closet, there will be no issue with a bit of a hollow spot if that is the result.
