I hate it when anyone else does the caulking. Painters have more experience and usually do a lot better job.


The carpenter hangs the prehungs but leaves the locksets off [usually] then the painter takes the doors down, paints and rehangs them. Then the carpenter comes back to install the locksets.


After all the trades are done the paint comes back to do touch ups.

I hate bad joints that need caulk, but it is inevitable sometimes. My painter hates for me to caulk, so I don't. They make me look so good !! Talk to your painter and see what he/she wants and coordinate things. It makes it go smoothly.
