Here is what I took off the wall:

And here is what the pipe on the wall looks like, it is 2.5" long, non threaded:

I would like to get a brushed nickel replacement but what I saw in home depot all needed adapters and such. I messed around with this one model, which needed an adapter: https://www.homedepot.com/p/DANCO-Universal-Tub-Spout-in-Chrome-88702X/100344525

But had no luck and I ended up cracking the tile. Oops.

Is it possible to just buy a premade one, like the one in the first picture, where I can just slip it on and tighten a screw? For the one I removed it had a single hex screw at the bottom to tighten and release. The home Depot Hone had me lining up things, punching screws through plastic, and trying to screw things into place. I want an all in one solution.

If you look at the second picture you can see the thin crack going up the tile and the way the other had to be secured with a pointed screw (which is pointed to pierce the plastic) scratched the copper which got me worried that if I did any more I would end up cutting it and then I would be in a world of trouble.

I was just told the tile may have been broken before, all I know is that when screwing on the replacement from Home Depot I heard a loud noise of some kind from the wall and quickly reversed everything and put the old one back on

I replaced my Price Pfister one with a slip on one from Rona. The big box stores don’t sell just the diverter. Pipe had threaded end soldered n so I had to cut that off. I did find diverter on Amazon but it was over 100 bucks.

One of the Moen's I got looked like this:

The one linked above, is it just slip on and then tighten or do I need to attach adapters onto the pipe first? The adapter on the universal fit one is what killed it for me as it was a cheap piece of plastic that just about snapped the pipe when I was screwing the spout on.

I have never see one that comes with out the innerds, are sure it was made by Moen or is it just copy to fit Moen.
