It will be 105F here for several days this week. That's unusually high for June.

What is a reasonable, energy efficient expected indoor temperature with A/C? I know comfort is individual.

??

We keep the downstairs at 74-75 and the bedroom area is at a 76 set point.

If I get hot I might go down 1 on either.

I find the Dew Point temperature to be a controlling factor, not just the ambient temperature. I can take 79°F with a indoor DP of 35° but if the DP increases to 42° the ambient must drop to 76°-77° for comfort. We have a ceiling fan in most rooms and use those religiously.

Start it at 7-8 AM if you turn it off at night or it cools down at night.

Let it get a head start on the work load plus it takes a long time to remove humidity. People who wait until 11 AM and then crank it on suffer as it won't de humidify as well/as quickly.

Leave your curtains shut on the South and West side so it does not work as hard.

All this helps with efficiency/saving your elec $$.

I like 73-74 F.

102F, Dew Point 61, RH 26%, Indoor - 81F. Cranked up all the way. I think the freon may be low. It was on all night, also.

I've always been told the best you can expect is 20º lower temp inside vs. outside. That may be BS? Not sure.

I can tell you we keep ours set at 68º year round. We have had several 90+ days so far and ours kept the inside 68.

I do like to acclimatize somewhat between Summer and Winter. It makes life easier.

Energy efficient was mentioned. Are you certain 68 qualifies as efficient?:vs_laugh:At that temperature our elect. bill would be in the $400.00 range i suspect.:vs_mad:

I set our house at 72 day and 68 night. My 1800 square foot shop behind the house is set at 65. It has been 88 to 90 for a week outdoors. Whatever it costs to be comfortable is what I pay. There are things I am willing to go without, comfort is not one of them. I worked for 50 years to provide myself with a comfortable retirement.

Ours runs around 200.00 during the summer. But I did the math and it's cheaper than a divorce.
