In general it is better to find specific websites for different projects, woodworking, plumbing, deck building, etc. and to rely on this site for minor repairs.
Lots of online sources from your local county and others to download building codes and related information.
Also important to know your limitations. I believe it is often better to be knowledgeable and able to supervise a tradesperson to get the best possible outcome rather than to do the work myself. I can also reduce costs by serving as the helper and by purchasing what is needed in advance and having it at hand before work starts.
