We moved into our house Sept 2012. We've had good water pressure the whole time although the water surged as the pump was pumping the water. We got a used Culligan water softener and hooked it up to the existing pipes for the Culligan water softener that had previously been installed in the house. We noticed that the hot water was still working, but the cold was just a trickle. We replaced the whole house filter, which was so old and gross that it was orange and we had to scrape the rest of it off the plastic in the hopes that it was the problem.
Even with the water softener completely removed, our water pressure is reduced to a mere trickle from most of the faucets. One toilet still flushes fine and our shower has a decent spray. I'm ready to call in the professionals to get this resolved, but I thought I'd check to see if anyone had any ideas.
