There seems to be a lot of differing opinion on what the optimum position of the flange (relative to the finished floor) should be.
The top of my closet flange sits about 1/4" (plus or minus about 1/16") above my finished floor.
My question is whether or not a standard wax ring would work for a flange set at this height, or if I should go with a thicker ring? I'm thinking about using the thicker ring, but I'm wondering if it is possible to actually use too much (too thick) wax, creating a problem?
No a thicker one will not cause an issue, one thing I would do is sit on the toilet to smoosh it down , snug the nuts up, use it a few days and do it again to make sure it's snug.
