What are the common reasons why water turns yellow? Does it mean that I have to replace my plumbing pipes?

Where are you? Here in FL some well water will turn a yellow-brown after a few days because of "Organic Iron". (No I don't know if that's a real term). And stain the sides of buildings.

Yea, could be iron bacteria.
