Hi All! I recently purchased land to build a home on and I would like to get a water tap installed so that I can water and cultivate a garden while I work on the house plans. The water main is right next to my property.

This is probably a simple question to answer, but I've looked everywhere! I'm in the Dallas, Texas area. Do I just call a plumber? Do I need a permit?

Thanks everyone!

What happens in my town is you pay a tap fee, permit, and contract a utility/excavation contractor or a plumber. The tap is paid by owner to the city, owner pays for permit as part of excavators contract and he pulls the permit since he is doing the work.
