Last time I built a deck with PT wood, I was told to put that black tar paper between two pieces of wood that were in contact with each other. Now my lumber yard says the manufacturer of that paper has stopped because no one uses it and it is recommend NOT to use it. Your thoughts? Do I need the paper or will wood-on-wood do?

Other than felt between the ledger and the wall I’ve never done that, seen that, or ever even heard of anyone doing what your describing.
