I live in the city and my connection to water heater is less than 100 feet away however my water pressure in my kitchen sink is barely stronger than well water, and nearly slows to a drip when I fold the water purifier down to purify my water. I have looked into "boosters" but not sure where to install them. They seem to run around 80 bucks and higher. Can you help?

If the kitchen sink is the only problem then you need to find out why. It could be a partially closed shutoff valve or clogged supply line.

Unscrew the aerator on the sink and see if that helps. Doesn't take much to clog those up.
