Hi Everyone,

I am redoing my supply lines in my house with a PEX whole house system. I will be using a manabloc manifold. All runs will be home runs to each fixture.

With PEX, is it recommended to use water hammer arrestors for the dishwasher, clothes washer, or ice maker?

Thanks,

Pat

It can't hurt, but my understanding is that the PEX has a certain elasticity to it that negates much of the hammer issue and certainly the noise.

That being said, the noise is not the primary concern with water hammer.
Thanks for the feedback. Would you put water hammer arrestors on any other fixtures other than the three I mentioned?

Thanks,

Pat

Depends on your code your under. Under IPC as an inspector I am suppose to enforce the stricter regulation code being the stricter out weight manufacturer. That would mean you would install a hammer on washer machine hot and cold and dish washer. We do not install hammers on ice makers. But that is a local decision.
