I have a detached garage with a finished upper. Currently no water supply or drain. Residence has lift station in basement that ejects all waste 200 feet to street with 15' head. I want to get a small bathroom in the upper of the garage. Is it acceptable to install a second station in garage lower that ejects to a wye tied into the main ejection line of the residence about 50' from the residence station? Of course a check valve ahead of the wye at the second station just like the check valve in the residence. Pump in second station would be slightly under-rated of that in the residence. Any comment appreciated.

Depending on the distance and grades involved, I would be tempted to gravity feed from the garage to the existing ejector pump. Adding a 2nd pump doubles the maintenance.

That will probably be the route I take. The existing station is lower level and downhill from the garage. Dealing with Minnesota frost line, so some major digging along with electric and gas to cross...thanks for the comment!

Oh I will.... Several years ago I managed a high pressure gas line, (thankfully a check valve about 200 feet away), with a backhoe. So when they say hand dig make sure you open it up a bit; can never be safe enough. Very fortunately, the only pain was in my wallet.
