I am putting in a new roof vent for the washing machine I just moved. Is there an optimum hight to leave sticking out of the roof. I have seen lots of different lengths so not sure. We live in a location that gets snow approx 24" a year. My roof is metal and is a 12/4 pitch and the vent will be approx 8' from the peak.

Is it not possible to hook this vent into the existing one somewhere in the attic and upsize if required?
Yes that was one possibility but it was a long distance and in this house the kitchen sink always has been a little slow as it is hooked up in the attic to the main vent which again is a long distance so I am going to kill two birds with one stone and hook up the kitchen vent to my new one. I am going to hook the kitchen vent up to both which I believe won't hurt.
Thanks
