Hello all, from Manitoba, Canada with a quick question. We have a reno going on and right now on the one circuit I have 6 outlets and 8 LED only potlights. This exceeds the 12 devices, but the pot lights are quick connect pinned LED, a high wattage bulb could never be used there. The lights are rated to just under 10w each so 80 total watts of lighting.

Does it matter that 12 devices is exceeded if the light wattage is so low?

Thanks

It is against code. 12 is the limit unless the load is known. If you have even one receptacle then load is not known because anything can be plugged into it. If it was all lighting then the load is known and you can have as many as remains below 12 amps.

So if I take out two receptacles bringing the total down to 12 devices (8 lights and 4 receptacles) that would satisfy code? Seems like a bit of a silly situation but code is code and I'd like to make sure I'm safe.
