I'm stripping a part of a room for painting..
A couple walls have paper on them that I'd like to leave..
A few of the edges have lifted a bit..
Can these be re-sealed or am I looking at stripping the whole room..
Don't want to strip it if I don't have to..
The raised edges are ~~ 1/8th inch or less..
Any fixes here? Any ideas to save me a ton of work??
Thanks..
Jon

You could just re-attach it. I'm no pro on wall paper though. What I've seen is people typically dampen it wit ha sponge, lift up the seam or edge wit ha putty knife, apply some wall-paper adhesive, then go over it with a roller. I wouldn't press too hard or you won't have enough adhesive in the area and it will lift again.

Afrig is correct. Wet the edges (seams). You may even have to apply wet paper towels or something similar to wet the edges and KEEP them wet. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. If the edges have rolled over and have been like that for a while, in some cases it's impossible to get them to lay back down even after wetting them.

No.. I'm not planning on painting two of the walls.. the paper there looks fine except for the very edges.. I'll try wetting them for a bit & see how it works out with some new paste.
If it comes out crappy ...well then I guess I get to strip them as well.
I was just trying to salvage what I could.
Thanks for the replies folks..

JT,
They used to make a product called Stanfix. It was for gluing loose edges like you're trying to do. Not sure if they still make it, might want to google it or check at a Sherwin Williams store. Looked like a white glue, and would even glue wallpaper to wallpaper.
