Hello. I recently realized that my kitchen is entirely wallpapered with a strange material. I was trying to research but didn't know what to search. None of the wall coverings mentioned were what's on my wall. It's a thick kind of cardstock-like almost wallpaper, but it's attached to the wall with like a thread mesh or netting. It looks like gauze or cheese cloth (little more durable or rigid however). Anyone know what it is? It comes off fairly easy but if it rips unclean from the wall, it is a PAIN to try and get the strings all off.

And it isn't stringy on the outside, only what is behind the wallpaper and attached to the wall- so it's not like the seventies thread wallpaper.

Thanks

It was built in '53. I don't believe it is plaster, just dry wall. The rest of the home is drywall. In any case, it appears to be in good shape. I was just curious since I couldn't find anything on the internet. And also thought it was weird because there was wallpaper over that covering too.
