in a tilt-up construction commercial unit I am building 3 - 7'2' partition walls. I am told that they must be supported by bracing every 4' staggered to the roof joists. The drop ceiling height is 10' and there is another 10' to the interior roof. What type of bracing is required and how is it required to be attached to the metal roof joists according to the calif building code 2007

Magic.

Phew, seriously? If I'm reading you right your trying to brace a partition wall that is 3' shorter than the finished ceiling height and 13' shorter than the joists?

So you have a 3' gap between the top of your wall and your drop ceiling? ala Cube Land

I have seen commercial spaces with metal "rods" that run through the drop celing along the partition walls, but it beats hell out of me about their source or install.

Nothing personal, but how did you get this commercial job if you don't know what you're doing? No set of plans on the jobsite?
