Sort of an awkward setup and I'm having issues visualizing a solution to this. Hopefully I can explain this accurately without taking a picture.
Looking at the back of the house:
Porch on the left, cement base about 3'6" high, 6' wide. Very flimsy metal railing perimeter.
To the immediate right of the porch, starting at ground level, cement stair case down to basement. Left wall of stairwell is the porch foundation, right wall is cinder.
The right wall of the stairwell is about 2 ft high above ground level.
There is a drain at the bottom of the stairwell and i had it checked before winter, and will have it checked again before we get hit.
Right now, we have this opening covered with a large tarp. Very unattractive, thought it does the job. I would like to relieve this method as it gets filled with spiders, webs, and growth from being covered.
Any ideas?
The only requirement I need to keep in mind is rain runoff, i need to make sure whatever i use as cover as a degree of tilt to allow rain to run off away from the house.
